The King and I Restaurant was founded in 1988 by Anant (Bob) and Amarawan (Marie) Phoungphol in response to the need for authentic ethnic restaurants in the midwest. Using the recipes brought forth from their native Thailand and through their own family recipes, they put together their legendary menu. The King and I has been an award-winning fixture of the Milwaukee dining scene for over 36 years. In 2016, Derek, their son, took charge of the family business and continues to bring their excellent Thai dining to generations of customers.
